The El Dorado Fire broke out before 10:30 a.m. On September 5th near the 37000 block of Oak Glen Road, according to San Bernardino National Forest officials.

Within an hours, Cal Fire issued a mandatory evacuation order for the community of Oak Glen, with the evacuation areas of Oak Glen Road through to Wildwood Canyon Rd., Mountain Home Village, Forest Falls and the eastern portion of Yucaipa.

Later in the afternoon new evacuation orders were issued for Yucaipa residents east of Jefferson Street from Oak Glen Road to Yucaipa Ridge.

The San Bernardino Sheriff issued Road closures for Highway 38 at Bryant Street in Yucaipa and the community of Angelus Oaks, and Oak Glen Road between Pine Bench Road and Cherry Croft Drive.


On Sunday temperatures dropped and a cloud cover came through blanketing the area with lower temperatures and a slight drizzle mostly Around the 38 freeway and neer the upper area of Yucaipa towards Ivy Street.

Helicopters along with fixed-wing aircraft were dropping water and Phos-Chek on the flames.

Around two in the afternoon wind gusts changed the direction of the fire and for some time grounded all fixed wing aircraft and sky cranes. Wind died down around 430 - 5 o’clock and crews began working on creating backfires and did a few drops from fixed wing aircraft before the sun went down.



No injuries were reported. Officials did not immediately release details on structural damage.

The Red Cross set up an evacuation center at the Yucapia Community Center.


September 8th, update

The cause of the fire has been deemed to be a pyrotechnic device from a gender reveal party.

The fire is at 10,574 acres an 16% contained

The evacuation center has also been moved to Redlands East Valley High School located at 31000 East Colton Ave. per Red Cross
