crews arrived and engaged calling in a second alarm as firefighters worked to suppress the fire and conducted a sweep to find no occupants were inside the structure. A second alarm response was requested. The fire caused the roof to be compromised

No injuries to firefighters were reported. The building, which was built in the 1940s was vacant at the time of the fire and was heavily damaged. The cause of the fire is under investigation.

Hal Metlitzky from Johannesburg, South Africa. Hal has been turning wood for more than 30 years and has focused mainly on segmented work using exotic hardwoods.

Hal, whos not a woodworker by trade, graduated as an Electrical Engineer and worked in the IT industry until his retirement in late 2010. His background in engineering helps him visualize and construct the basic blocks that form the structure of his turned bowls that have, at times, over 2000 pieces and take months to produce.

He is privileged enough to have one of his pieces in the Smithsonian American Art Museum today.

Luke and his Harris hawk Skywalker patrol the dining area at Moulin in Newport Beach.

Skywalker is a three-year-old hawk, and Luke has been training Skywalker for two years now.
