About 150 people gathered at The University of Redlands held a candlelight vigil in front of the Memorial Chapel in honer of the 15th anniversary of 9/11.
In front of the chapel students placed nearly 3000 flags in honor of the people who lost their life.
Sara Spark who is a part of Young Americans for Freedom told me "
The vigil started with a hymn fallowed by assistant Chaplin Bill Maury-Holme reflecting on what he remembered and how 9/11 changed the local community and the world. He finished with a pryer for peace.
The last speaker was U of R Chaplin John Walsh who talked about the first responders and the brave people who took action to take down the plain down in Pennsylvania and how we need to thank and pry for them. He went on to say that if it wasn't for them a lot more people would have died or been hurt. His main statement he wanted us to live with was " on this 9/11 remember where you where and let us remember those who lost their life for our humanity"
Walsh praised Sparks and the group of students who placed the flags nearby, and marooned "I would have included the flags of 93 nations in the memorial, That's the number of nations represented by the individuals who died in that tragic day."
The service concluded with a playing of taps
One of the youngest people attending the event was Belinda who was not even Born when the events happened. She said " This is very special because I think we to to remember everyone's lives."
